Children International - Typhoon Haiyan Relief Efforts

In the two days since Super Typhoon Haiyan pummeled the Philippines, our staff has begun assessing the damage to our sponsored communities and locating families. Many families are still sheltered in evacuation centers, so it will take time to correctly identify affected sponsored children and their families. Our policy is to contact sponsors directly if their children have been significantly impacted by a natural disaster.

Children International agencies are distributing our initial response – food aid and hygiene kits to help affected families. Additionally, more than 1,000 people have access to clean, safe water at an elementary school that is currently serving as an evacuation center. The AquaTower providing this water was built through a collaborative project between Children International and Planet Water Foundation.
