Big Bed Bonanza to Bring Sweet Dreams to Homeless Pets in North Texas.

Late on the afternoon of September 23rd, a 53' semi-trailer pulled up to the loading dock at a warehouse in Addison and changed the lives of hundreds of pets waiting for their forever homes in shelters and foster homes.  Inside the huge truck were more than 500 unopened cases containing nearly 900 brand new luxury pet beds that will provide warmth and comfort for hundreds of pets in local foster-home-based animal rescue groups and animal shelters across North Texas.

The beds, donated by a national retailer, range from plush sofa beds to soothing orthopedic pads to cuddly pet pillows. They will be available for free to Dallas Companion Animal Project (DCAP) Active Partners through the DCAP Assistance Network, an online portal provided by The Aidmatrix Foundation that makes donating in-kind goods to animal welfare organizations simple, easy, and safe.

Transportation for the donation, initially a referral from the great folks at Operation Kindness, was provided by the retailer. DCAP volunteers tirelessly sorted, stacked and inventoried the mountain of cardboard boxes in preparation for the Big Bed Bonanza, a celebration and distribution party to be held next month.

Storage for the beds is being generously provided by the Addison-based Gordon Lights, an animal-friendly, community-oriented DCAP Partner that provides custom computerized professional lighting rentals, sales, and design and programming services.

The beds will be available for allocation to animal shelters and rescue groups that partner with DCAP beginning later this week, with distribution taking place at an event on Saturday, October 5th from 9-11. There will be light refreshments for the rescue groups, and a few giveaways.  Cindy Gordon (www.cindygordon.com) will be there offering vouchers for free photo sessions for any of the rescue group’s foster dogs that need a little help getting adopted.

The beds will be made available for free to local 501c3 animal rescue groups and shelters that partner with DCAP. For more information, visit www.dallasanimals.org or email info@dallasanimals.org
